PCB design

1. You send me a sketch. A simple hand-drawn schematics will do.
2. I fill in the gaps, estimate the time it would take to design it, make a preliminary schematics, and send you a quote.
3. You accept the quote.
4. I design the final schematics.
5. You accept the schematics.
6. I design the PCB.
7. You accept the PCB.

All prices are based on my hourly rate of €70/hour, and the price will not change after the quote, unless there is a major change in the specifications during the project.

After the project is finished and payed, it will be your exclusive property, and will be covered by my lifetime warranty.

Examples

• I can design a simple PCB, similar to one in the open HW section, in 4 hours, for €280.
• A big PCB, like a mini-PC motherboard, or the main board of a robot would take me about 300 hours to design, and cost €21000.

HW + FW + SW

The process is similar to PCB design, but involves many cycles, and I may not be able to give a quote for the entire work at the beginning.

After the project is finished and payed, it will be your exclusive property, and will be covered by my lifetime warranty.

Examples

• Designing a simple UI board, with a keyboard and a few LEDs: HW design 8 hours, €560; FW design 40 hours, €2800; PC SW to demonstrate how the UI works: 20 hours, €1400;
• Designing a smart sensor, like a capacitive proximity sensor: HW design 10 hours, €700; FW design 80 hours, €5600; PC SW to demonstrate how it works: 20 hours, €1400;

Research and maintenance

When the length of a project cannot be determined in advance, I offer to do it on an hourly basis, for €70/hour.

Examples

• Experimenting with a new type of smart sensor. It is not possible to make an exact specification at the beginning of the project, because it will depend on what the new sensor is capable of.
• Debugging and maintaining an existing Altium library.

Reduced price projects

I offer 50% price reduction for all projects that are, or similar to the ones, in my new ideas, proof-of-concepts section.

In addition to the design price, I ask for either 5% from your sales price of each item, if your product ever reaches mass production, or the permission to use the project as a basis of a free project in the open HW section of my website.

You can also opt out of this offer, pay the full price, and take exclusive ownership of the idea, and the product based on it.

Freebies

Of course without warranty of any kind, but also without major restrictions.
